Les Dawson was a true ‘all-rounder’. He was a musician, writer, actor and presenter and know for making jokes about ‘the mother in-law’ as well as playing piano badly. (Which is extremely hard to do if you are a gifted player as Les was).
Les was born in Collyhurst in Manchester and his first ever job was working in the Co-ip in Manchester. Like many others he got his big break on Opportunity knocks in 1967 and from then on was a large part of British T.V. Les was also a writer of novels!
Les broke his jaw in a boxing match and henceforth had the ability to stretch his jaw over his upper lip creating hilariously funny faces. When he wasn’t working, Dawson was a heavy drinker and smoker.
Les sadly died in 1993.
